Life Skills + Golf Skills = Game Changers
First Tee believes that golf is a perfect practice ground for learning skills that go beyond the fairways. At all ages, players will have the opportunity to play, learn, and appreciate the game of golf and how it relates to life, as they focus on the key commitments to becoming a Game Changer.
Duration and Cost
Our outdoor sessions run for 5-weeks at a time. Participants ages 7 to 17 attend a 90 minute class.
(There is a summer class for children ages 5 to 6) Each session is $75
Our indoor sessions run for 4-weeks at a time. Participants ages 7 to 17 attend a 60 minute class, once a week. Each session is $65
Late-Fall Programming at Durfee Innovation Society
Late Fall Registration Opens on Thursday, September 10th at Noon
About the classes at Durfee:
- Classes will run 4 weeks with 6 spots available per class.
- Participants will rotate through the Trackman hitting bay and PuttView putting simulator. As well as some activities that cover the lesson of the day in the curriculum.
- $65 covers the 4 week session.
Ages 7-9:
Monday’s: 5:00pm to 6:00pm and 6:15pm to 7:15pm
Ages 10 – 11:
Tuesday’s: 5:00pm to 6:00pm and 6:15pm to 7:15pm
Ages 12 – 13:
Wednesday’s: 5:00pm to 6:00pm
Ages 14-17:
Wednesday’s 6:15pm to 7:15pm
Back Nine Golf League – Late Fall
For ages 9+, experienced participants will compete against eachother across the other locations. Each site has space for 8 participants (four participants ages 9-12, four participants ages 13+). The league will meet once per week for 4 weeks at your selected location, and begins the week of October 19th.

- Wednesdays: Troy – 443 E Big Beaver Rd, Troy, MI 48083
Time: 5:00pm to 7:00pm
Cost: $75 covers the 4-week league.
TopGolf Parent/Child League Nights – Late Fall
This league is designed to be a family oriented session, with kids and their parent/guardian joining for a fun evening each week. Families will play through a TopGolf themed game and record scores each week. Registration is limited to 8 family pairs.
This opportunity begins October 7th and runs for four weeks on October 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. The league begins at 5:30pm and runs until 7:00pm.
Cost: $40 per family pair covers the 4-week league.
Ages: 7 to 17 for participants
Saint Johns Parent Child/League Nights – Late Fall
This league is designed to be a family oriented experience, with kids and their parents/guardians teaming up for a fun evening of golf each week. Family teams will play in a two-person scramble format, with space for 14 parent/child teams.
The league begins Thursday, October 1st and runs for four weeks on October 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. The league begins at 5:00pm and runs until 7:00pm.
League will take place on the Little Cardinal course.
Cost: $40 per family pair covers the 4-week league.
Age: 6 to 17 for participants

- If your child(ren) have already attended a class, please log in to your previous account. Please DO NOT create a new account(s). If you request a password reset and do not receive an e-mail, please contact [email protected].
- 48 HOUR CART POLICY: First Tee will hold your spot in a class, without payment, for 48 hours. At the 48 hour mark, your cart will empty. If you’ve requested financial aid, the 48 hour cart policy also applies, so please keep checking you email (spam/junk) for communication.
- REFUND POLICY: Refunds will be approved upon request given the reasoning for the request. All requests must be submitted before the registration deadline for the selected session.
- CLASS TRANSFER: Transfer requests to another class session may be honored before the current registered class begins and if there is space in requested class. Transfers cannot be honored after the current class session has already begun.
- ABSENCES: We do not offer make up classes for personal absences. Please be sure to check your calendar before registering.
- FINANCIAL AID: If you’re facing a financial hardship, you can select financial aid during check out. You will be asked to submit documentation at that time and it will then be reviewed upon submission. FA is not available for late registrations or private lessons, unless otherwise noted. Cannot be combined with a military discount.
- MILITARY DISCOUNT: We offer a 50% discount for active duty and veteran families. You will be contacted to confirm the military status upon completion of registration. The discount only applies to the child’s legal guardian. Cannot combine with financial aid. Not applicable on private lessons unless otherwise noted.
- PROGRAM COMPLETION GUARANTEE: We guarantee that at least four of the five scheduled classes (or three of four classes for indoor programs) will be held each session. If two or more classes are canceled, First Tee – Greater Detroit will schedule a make-up class. In the rare event that only three of the five scheduled classes are completed, including the make-up class, families will receive a credit to their First Tee account that can be applied toward a future program or special event.
